Long -term hematopoietic stem cells (LT-HSC ) maintain the body's lifelong hematopoiesis through self-renewal and multi-directional differentiation

On January 17 , 2022 , Shen Li's laboratory in our school , together with Ju Zhenyu's research group from Jinan University and Wang Hu 's research group from Hangzhou Normal University , published an online article entitled " HMCES safeguards genome integrity and long-term self-renewal of hematopoietic " in the journal Leukemia .

The researchers found that although HMCES is highly expressed in gametes and bone marrow, Hmces knockout mice develop normally and are fertile in both females and males, and the maintenance of normal hematopoiesis at homeostasis is independent of HMCES .

    Higher ROS levels

Taken together, this study not only reveals that HMCES plays a key role in protecting LT-HSC genome stability and self-renewal during stress hematopoiesis , but also finds the clinical relevance of this gene to ALL , providing potential for leukemia therapy.

The research was funded by the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Outstanding Youth Science Fund, the Key Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Zhejiang Provincial Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars

Attachment: Professor Shen Li has long been focusing on the study of epigenetic regulation mechanisms in stem cells and development , and is committed to the development of micro-initial volume and single-cell multi-omics sequencing technologies and data analysis methods; the laboratory recruits molecular and cell biology researchers all the year round.
