On December 16 last year, the Middle Eastern multinational operator Ooredoo Maldives and Huawei Submarine Cable jointly announced the launch of the Maldives national submarine cable system

Based on 100Gbps technology, the 1,200-kilometre cable connects the six major islands of the Maldives with a total transmission capacity of 3.
2Tbps, and is planned to bring high-speed mobile broadband services
to the Maldives.
Vikram Sinha, CEO of Ooredoo Maldives, said Ooredoo believes in the power of ICT technology, especially the role
of broadband services in promoting socio-economic development.

offered by this cable.
With this cable, Ooredoo will bring Southeast Asia's first 4G+ network service
to the Maldives.
