According to foreign media on June 19, OPEC may add a new member to this Friday's meeting, because the Republic of Congo is seeking to join OPEC

If approved, the Republic of Congo would become the 15th member of OPEC and would strengthen the African bloc
in OPEC.
The current oil production in the Republic of Congo is about 250,000 barrels to 300,000 barrels per day

Sources told S&P Global Platts that the vote is likely to be on the OPEC agenda, though a representative of the Republic of Congo said a vote to join OPEC could take place
later this year given that OPEC faces a week of tricky negotiations on the future of the production cut agreement.
A representative of the Republic of the Congo who discussed with OPEC in Vienna said that there was great hope for the Republic of Congo to join OPEC, but because OPEC had many difficult issues to discuss, it was not yet fully on the priority list

He added that the Republic of Congo is eager to join OPEC immediately, but the organization is facing some problems
that need to be addressed.
