Opening up a new path for the biotransformation of natural products: a project on the biomanufacturing and application of rare ginsenosides

In the 2021 Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Award-winning project, the "Bio-manufacturing and application of rare ginsenosides" completed by Northwestern University and Xi'an Juzi Bio-Gene Technology Co.

Rare ginsenosides are rare in nature, difficult to obtain and complex in structure, making it difficult to achieve chemical synthesis

The first person to complete the project, Professor Fan Daidi, Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering of Northwestern University, told reporters that after years of hard work, they have organically combined synthetic biotechnology, enzyme engineering, green solvent engineering, biochemical separation and purification, and chemical engineering.

In May 2020, the Shaanxi Chemical Society organized an expert group to identify the project of "Bio-manufacturing and Application of Rare Ginsenosides".

After the successful research on the biomanufacturing technology of efficient and directional transformation of rare ginsenosides, it has attracted the attention of the industry

Based on the unique efficacy and synergistic technology of rare ginsenosides, the project team has developed a series of new products such as immune function enhancement, sleep improvement and skin barrier repair

In the past 3 years, rare ginsenoside series products have been promoted and applied in 30 provinces and cities in China, and exported to the United States as dietary supplement raw materials approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
