On November 28, Moisés Bertoni, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) of Paraguay, announced that Paraguayan pork was approved for the Taiwanese market
    .

Paraguayan's "El País" reported on November 29 that Bertoni pointed out that Taiwan consumes about 900,000 tons of pork every year, and although Taiwan also produces a large amount of pork, there is still a supply gap
of about 100,000 tons per year.
To make up for the shortfall, Taiwan imports pork from Spain, Canada and the United States, and now Paraguay is one of
    the suppliers.
The Taiwan market has one of the highest pork prices, with an annual consumption of US$250 million
    .

Luis Castiglioni, Minister of Industry and Trade (MIC), recalled that in May this year, a Taiwanese health technology delegation conducted a two-week evaluation visit to pork production plants in Paraguay, visiting laboratories, slaughterhouses, and the process of supervision by the
    Paraguayan authorities.

Castiglioni said the approval of Paraguayan pork into the Taiwanese market is "historic" and provides an important opportunity
for the Paraguayan pork production sector.
About 45,000 households in Paraguay depend on pork production for their livelihood, and the licence will improve their pork
    production.

According to Senacsa's latest foreign trade report, in the first 10 months of this year, Paraguay exported about 846.
29 tons of pork, a decrease of 51.
    3%
compared to the same period last year (1737.
    27 tons).
Uruguay remains the main export destination for Paraguayan pork, accounting for 78% of total exports, Georgia in second place with a share of 16% and Armenia in third place with a share of 6%.
