Recently, Renewable Energy Now reported that Brazil's Paraná State Institute for the Environment has issued a preliminary permit
for a 200 MW wind farm project.
The total cost of the Palmas II is estimated at BRL 1 billion ($255.
5 million/€225 million) and will consist of
eight wind farms covering 16,000 hectares (39,536 acres) in the city of Palmas.
When completed, it will be the first privately owned renewable energy complex in Paraná and one of the
three regions in the whole of southern Brazil.
The project is owned by local energy company Enerbios (part of the Enercons Group), and the wind farm is also linked
to German company Innovent and Brazilian companies Cia Ambiental de Suritiba and Ventos do Sul.
According to the country's law, the preliminary permit only proved the environmental viability of the wind farm project and did not approve the commencement of construction works and ground interventions
