Paratus and Namibian Telecom have signed an agreement to jointly invest in the construction of Namibia's Equiano submarine cable system
.
Barney Harmse, CEO of Paratus Group, said: "This is an important milestone
for Paratus.
We are proud to co-invest in the Equiano submarine cable project with Telecom Namibia, as it is in line with our goal
of achieving unlimited connectivity and building a high-quality network in Africa with the full Internet capacity it requires.

It is reported that the Equiano submarine cable system Namibia landing station is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021, and the submarine cable will land on the Namibian coast
in the second half of 2022.
According to current plans, the Equiano system will first connect Lisbon (Portugal) to Cape Town in South Africa and provide feeder routes
to other African countries.
The system was built by Alcatel Submarine Cable, the company's fourth privately owned submarine cable
for Google.
The remaining three are the Junior cable, the Curie cable, and the Dunant cable
.
