The VietnamEse Association for The Export and Production of Marine Products (VASEP) reports that large-scale development of marine shrimp farms will begin in Penang province, Vietnam, starting in 2021, with an estimated increase of more than 4,000 hectares by 2025.
Van Danh Director of Agriculture and Rural Development, Penang Province, said shrimp farming was an important agricultural project in Penangprovince, where the government planned a high-tech agricultural area in 2021 and launched a project on the development of aquaculture. The area support policy encourages Vietnamese farmers to develop at least 500 hectares of high-tech farms for the breeding of black tiger shrimp and South American white shrimp, and implements the regulations for the management of refined and semi-refined culture, which will increase by more than 4,000 hectares by 2025. Nguyen Minh Canh, vice-chairman of the
PenangProvincial People's Committee, said the province would deploy a series of policies on infrastructure investment to boost aquaculture production through scientific and technological programmes and encourage investment and development in processing plants for high-tech shrimp farming.
according to the plan, some agricultural cultivation areas will be developed as aquaculture areas, giving priority to intensive shrimp farms in three areas, Ba Tri, Binh Dai and Thanh Phu, with additional water supply and drainage systems.
ofin Penang Province is about 35,000 hectares, with an annual output of more than 50,000 tons and South American white shrimp production of about 29,000 tons.
