    Peruvian blueberry exports to China will double this season

    According to the Peruvian agricultural website Agraria, during the 2021/2022 production season, Peru plans to export 211,200 tons of blueberries , an increase of about 30% from the previous season's 163,000 tons
    .
    Among them , exports to China will double, from 15,919 tons in the previous season to 32,736 tons, accounting for 15.

    The Peruvian Blueberry Producers and Exporters Association (Proarándanos) stated that the increase in exports to China is mainly due to the updated varieties of Peruvian blueberries

    At present, Peruvian blueberry varieties are mainly Biloxi and Ventura, and the planting area accounts for 39% and 35% of the total area respectively

    Proarándanos is very optimistic about the organic blueberry market and believes that the export of organic blueberries and the blueberry industry will achieve simultaneous growth in the next five years, and the output of organic blueberries will reach 10%-15% of the total output

      According to Proarándanos, Peruvian blueberry exports are highly concentrated in certain destination ports

    Among them, 76% of Peruvian blueberries exported to the United States entered the US market through the Port of Philadelphia; 48% of blueberries exported to Europe arrived at the Port of Rotterdam, and 58% of blueberries exported to China arrived at the Port of Shanghai
