Peruvian official: Do not drink two drinks containing methanol in Punto D Oro!

Recently, the General Directorate of Environmental Health and Food Safety (Digesa) of the Ministry of Health of Peru (Minsa) issued a warning to consumers not to buy or drink two alcoholic beverages under the "Punto D Oro" brand, because methanol is detected in their ingredients, which can cause serious damage
to consumers' health after drinking.

Peruvian newspaper reported on October 16 that the test results of the Legal and Medical Research Institute of the Public Prosecutor's Office showed that the following two alcoholic beverages of the "Punto D Oro" brand were unqualified: passion fruit flavored vodka sparkling alcoholic beverage 2 liters, sanitary registration code: P9080116N/NACMPR, batch 26092022-2, valid until September 26, 2025; Pi?a colada sparkling alcoholic beverage, PET bottle of 2 liters, sanitary registration code: P9962320N/NACMPR, batch 27082022-3, valid until August 27, 2025

In addition to advising consumers not to buy or drink these two drinks, Digesa also asked the Regional Health Authorities (Geresa), District Health Directorates (Diresa) and Integrated Health Network Directorate (Diris) to work with local governments to strengthen hygiene surveillance actions to urge the above products to be removed from supermarkets, shopping malls, etc
