Calcium hypochlorite
[Alias] bleaching powder
[Physical and chemical properties] White granular powder, similar to slaked lime, sometimes slightly gray with chlorine smell
[Preparation]
(1) Chlorine monoxide method
Calcium hypochlorite can be obtained by reacting chlorine monoxide with solid slaked lime or calcium chloride
Ca(OH) 2 +Cl 2 O→Ca(CIO) 2 ·H 2 O
CaCl 2 +2Cl 2 O→Ca(CIO) 2 +2Cl 2
This method was developed by the PPG company in the United States.
(2) Lime chlorination method
The chlorine gas is reacted with slaked lime or lime milk to produce dibasic calcium hypochlorite, which is further chlorinated to produce Ca(CIO) 2 ·2H 2 O, which is filtered, dried and sieved to obtain a finished product
2Ca(OH) 2 +2Cl 2 →Ca(ClO) 2 +CaCl 2 +2H 2 O
The milk of lime is quantitatively added to the milling chlorination reactor, chlorine gas is introduced, the nitrogen flow rate and the amount of cooling water are adjusted to control the appropriate reaction temperature, and the reaction endpoint is controlled by observing the coarse and uniform Ca(CIO) 2 crystal form of the chlorination slurry
(3) Caustic soda lime method
Use lime milk and caustic soda solution (or sodium hypochlorite) to react with chlorine, and then cool to -15°C to obtain calcium hypochlorite trimeric salt Ca(CIO) 2 ·NaCIO 2 ·NaCl·12H 2 O containing about 80% of available chlorine.
The lime milk chlorination method reacts according to the following reaction formula, and the by-product CaCl 2 hinders the formation of Ca(ClO) 2 during the reaction
By adopting this method, high-grade calcium hypochlorite can be prepared with good product quality, good solubility and stability, few reaction by-products, but high cost
[Technical Standard] GB/T10666-2008
[Application] Calcium hypochlorite is an oxidizing bactericide, and its bactericidal mechanism is similar to that of sodium hypochlorite
① Disinfectant, bleaching and disinfection of medical gauze, daily necessities, purification of drinking water and swimming pools, houses, and livestock and poultry houses
②The performance of bleaching agent and bleaching powder is better than that of bleaching powder, so it is mostly used for bleaching and disinfection in some high-end occasions, such as bleaching cotton, hemp, chemical fiber, pulp and starch
