Total Energy and Plastic Energy announced recently that they have agreed to deepen their existing cooperation in waste plastic recycling, with plans to build a new chemical recycling plant in Seville, Spain, to supply Total Energy.

Plastic Energy said it will build a recycling plant on the same site as its existing operating facility in Seville.
The new plant is scheduled to start operations in early 2025 and will process 33,000 tons/year of post-consumer plastic waste and convert it into Tacoil raw materials

It is reported that Total Energy will process Plastic Energy's raw materials into polymers at its European production facilities for applications such as food-grade packaging

The two companies decided to cooperate after a process test at the Antwerp petrochemical plant in Belgium

Total Energy and Plastic Energy announced in 2020 a joint venture to build a 15,000-ton/year waste plastics treatment facility at Total Energies’ Grandpuits petrochemical complex in France, which is expected to be operational in 2023

In October last year, the two companies also established a strategic partnership with Freepoint Ecosystem, announcing the establishment of a similar recycling plant in Texas, USA, which will have an annual recycling capacity of 33,000 tons of plastic waste and is expected to start operations in mid-2024.
