Researchers have studied the stripping of polyethylene-assisted h-BN in water-based media to enhance the corrosion resistance of water-based epoxy coatings.
the study, h-BN powders were ultrasounded in aqueous solutions of polyethylene subamines (PEI) to simultaneously strip and function h-BN nanoparticles with Lewis acid-base interactions.
enhance corrosion resistance
the structure and shape of PEI-BNNSs with FTIR, TGA, AFM
and TEM. The PEI-BNNS is prepared to be used as an anti-corrosion nanofiller with a water-based epoxy (EP) coating on Q235 carbon steel. The corrosion behavior of EP and PEI-BNNSs/EP coating systems in 3.5 wt% NaCl aqueous solutions was evaluated by electrochemical workstations.
note that the protection efficiency (PE) value of 1 wt% PEI-BNNSs/EP and 2 wt% PEI-BNNSs/EP coating systems is up to 99.99% compared to EP coating systems. In addition, after 90 days of immersion, the weight percentage is 1 for the impedance module of the PEI-BNNSs/EP coating system. Z. . . . f - 0.01 Hz) is 3-4 orders of magnitude higher than the EP coating.
results show that PEI-BNNS can significantly improve the corrosion resistance of water-based epoxy coatings.
the study was published in May 2020 in volume 142 of Organic Coatings Progress.
