On February 7, PPG announced that it had signed an agreement to acquire the powder coatings business of Arsonsisi, an industrial coatings company based in Milan, Italy
.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022, subject to customary closing conditions
Arsonsisi is a leading supplier of specialty powder coatings for the architectural and industrial markets
.
Powder coatings are a highly sustainable product with enhanced durability, transfer efficiency, and the ability to be recycled or reused during application
Following the acquisition, PPG will be able to expand its powder coatings product range in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region to include metal bonding, one of the fastest growing markets for powder coatings, typically used in automotive, appliance and general special finishes for industrial applications
.
The acquisition is in line with PPG's goal of generating 40% of its sales by 2025 for Sustainable Advantage Products
Michael Shukov, General Manager, Industrial Coatings Europe, Middle East, PPG, said: "PPG has been recognized as an innovator in powder coatings, demonstrating leadership through powder advancements including edge covering for architectural metals and Fluoroethylene Vinyl Ether (FEVE) Fluorine Polymer coatings
.
PPG is the only total solution provider capable of supplying and servicing powders and all other coating technologies
Powder coatings are one of the fastest growing coating technologies due to their sustainability benefits and outstanding performance
.
Powder coatings, due to their low VOC properties, do not release solvents and are fully reusable, which means that coatings that are not deposited on the substrate during application are returned to the coating system to reduce waste
Carlo Junghanns, Chairman of Arsonsisi SpA, said: "We are proud that PPG has chosen to invest in the powder coatings segment through the acquisition of Arsonsisi's Powder Coatings division
.
We are confident in PPG's commitment to continuing our legacy and their ability to continue to provide our loyal customers with everything they need.
