The "adhesion" test is the most basic physical test of the coating.
When recoating, multiple factors will lead to a certain failure risk of the perfect standard process, such as poor polishing of complex surfaces; different local film thicknesses; and changes in baking temperature.
Therefore, paint formulators need to simulate various possible changes to ensure that the paint has normal adhesion com" href="">.

One of the tests simulates the coating adhesion cross-cut test after spraying directly on the surface of the varnish layer without sanding the recoated surface.
The difficulty of this test is that the sprayed surface retains the smoothness of the high-gloss varnish surface and has a highly cross-linked and cured state.
In order to reduce the surface tension of the coating and avoid shrinkage, polyether-modified siloxane is a more effective solution.
However, due to the large number of such products on the market, Evonik’s TEGO® Glide series alone has nearly 20 coatings for customers to choose from, and how to choose is very important.
Through the test, from the static surface, the surface energy of the paint film and the smoothness (coefficient of friction), the effects of different products on the first layer of varnish liquid were compared.
According to the data chart, it is concluded that the acrylic leveling agent has no obvious effect on the surface tension.
Most polyether-modified siloxanes show results similar to siloxane A and siloxane B, that is, the friction coefficient and surface energy are reduced at the same time.
This brings about the opposing choices of poor slipping effect and poor recoating wetting, or even being unable to recoating.
TEGO® Glide 496 breaks this linear relationship and can still effectively bring a smooth feeling without significantly reducing the surface energy.
Confirm recoating adhesion: test the effect of high and low temperature baking on the product

Curing conditions: baking at 130°C and 160°C for 30 minutes
Use full coat white paint plus varnish for heavy coating
Curing conditions: 140°C for 30 minutes

Polyether-modified siloxane has the risk of chain scission of polyether groups under high-temperature baking, causing adhesion failure, while TEGO® Glide 496 is still stable under over-baking conditions at 160°C.
principle
TEGO® Glide 496 has good mobility on the surface of the paint film.
When the subsequent coating is applied, the additives will migrate away from the first layer, reducing this layer of diaphragm, so that the adhesion has no effect.
