    Yonhap News Agency, Seoul, June 2-South Korean convenience stores GS25 and 7-11 suspended the production and sales of related products after controversy over foods containing Chinese kimchi in their ingredients .
     
    According to news from the convenience store industry on the 2nd, a netizen revealed that the Chinese label of the GS25 “Luncheon Meat Egg Kimchi Fried Rice” rice ball marked Korean kimchi as “Kimchi” in the Chinese label, sparking heated discussion.
    Some Chinese labels of other products under GS25 that contain "Korean Kimchi" also use the label "Kimchi".
    GS25 has cancelled all orders and sales of its products labeled "Kimchi" on the same day.
     
    After 7-11 investigations discovered that some of its products containing Korean kimchi such as "Triangular Seaweed Rice" and "Seaweed Rice" were labeled as "Kimchi" in Chinese, measures were taken to stop production.
    It is reported that CU convenience store directly adopts English labeling.
     
    A related person in the convenience store industry stated that this is the customary use of the Chinese "Kimchi" label for Chinese tourists.
