On September 7, 2022, the international academic journal PLoS Pathogens published the latest research results of Professor Wu Jianguo's team at Jinan University online, the paper is "Enzymatic independent role of Sphingosine kinase 2 in regulating the expression of type I.
During the influenza outbreak season, influenza viruses, because of their high pathogenicity and high mortality rate, have brought serious threats to life and health and huge economic losses
The study found that sphingosine kinase SPHK2 positively regulates the replication
Figure 1.
In summary, the study reveals the mechanism by which influenza viruses use the host factor sphingosine kinase SPHK2 to promote self-replication with a very elaborate mechanism: after the influenza virus infects host cells, the intracellular SPHK2 protein increases and enters the nucleus, in the nucleus, SPHK2 interacts with HDAC1, and the SPHK2 substrate binding region interacts with TET3 bound to the IFN-β promoter, causing the IFN-β promoter to deacetylate and inhibit the transcription of ifN-β promoters.
