Specified Technologies (STI) has added a
new product to its EZ-Path series of cable management products.
The company claims that the new EZ-Path smoke and acoustic channel is designed to improve the way traction cables pass through non-fire barriers, including smoke zones, providing smoke, air and environmental sealing
in addition to superior acoustic performance.

STI says the patent-pending EZ-Path smoke and acoustic pathway, designed to facilitate and smooth cable replacement while providing maximum cable protection and management, can improve the appearance
of walls by eliminating unsightly holes that transmit smoke, noise and odors.
The pipe's clean design provides smoke, air, environmental, and acoustic sealing benefits
for healthcare, commercial, and educational applications.

"In a medical environment, for example, acoustic seals protect patient privacy
    .
Brian Hengstenberger, product manager at EZ-Path, said
    .
"Automatic sealing and remote cable traction disrupt the ceiling (reducing ceiling space).

In business, acoustic sealing between offices and meeting rooms helps control noise, and in classrooms, it reduces noise levels and can improve the learning environment
    .
Ambient sealing also maintains indoor air quality and reduces odor transmission
    .
Providing a low-leak, zero-maintenance EZ-Path smoke and acoustic path allows for simple, smooth cable movement, additions and changes without the need for caulking or putty
    , STI said.
Easy to install, the channel can be installed
    horizontally or vertically.
Channels are adjusted to accommodate wall and floor thicknesses between 4" (102 mm) and 8" (203 mm) and can be linked for more capacity
    .

While the new EZ-Path smoke and acoustic access is designed for non-rated buildings, STI notes that the original EZ-Path fire access is still the best choice for fireproof buildings, including smoke barriers, specific types of smoke barriers
    with fire ratings.
