    Prysmian Group has signed an order with German grid operator TenneT TSO GmbH for a 2GW HVDC underground cable system for a total value of nearly 700 million euros
    .

    The signing of the contract further strengthens Prysmian's prominent role
    in the development of transmission infrastructure in Europe.
    Under the contract, Prysmann will be responsible for the development of a 546-kilometer-long 525kV HVDC underground cable system with a transmission capacity of 2 GW as an extension
    of SuedOstLink.

    This reaffirms Prysmian's role in the German HVDC projects SuedOstLink, SuedLink and A-Nord, which have been acquired by Prysmian for more than €1.

    Prysmian will supply and install an onshore system to transport renewable energy from wind farms in northern and eastern Germany to high-consumption cities and factory areas in southern Germany, which is essential

    SuedOstLink consists of two projects – V5 and V5a

    Both projects, each with a transmission capacity of up to 2 GW, will together provide 4 GW of electricity
    to southern Bavaria, Germany.

    The HVDC P-Laser cable for the project, developed by Prysmian Group, will be produced in Gron, France, where investment is being made in the construction of a new second production line

    Components will be produced in Livorno, Italy, while fiber optic cables will be produced
    in Romania.
    Offering more than 2 GW of power transmission capacity on a single system, the P-Laser cable solution is the first HPTE-based 100% recyclable, environmentally friendly, high-performance insulation technology to reduce CO2 emissions
    in production.

    Delivery of the V5a cable is scheduled to begin in 2025 and be operational
    in 2030.
    This V5a extension runs parallel
    to the SuedOstLink V5 transmission corridor.
