From SeafoodNews on November 22, as part of the work of hosting the World Cup, the Qatari government conducted a quality inspection of the national food before the World Cup, during which microbial contaminants were detected in imported Indian seafood, and the Qatari government temporarily banned the import of seafood
from India.

Qatar Customs found harmful bacteria in imported Indian shrimp, which attracted great attention
from the local government.

The Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI) insisted that Qatar lift the import ban because all its exports are certified
by the Export Inspection Agency (EIA).
