Pectin polysaccharide is an important component of plant cell wall, which not only plays an important role in physiological processes such as plant growth and development, signal transduction and defense response, but also is closely related to the enzymatic conversion efficiency of plant biomass and cellulosic biomass
MUM4 and GATL5 are known pectin synthase genes.
Recently, Li Shengjun, a researcher in the Energy Plant Improvement and Utilization Research Group of the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Processes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, published a research paper entitled A DE1 BINDING FACTOR 1–GLABRA2 module regulates rhamnogalacturonan I biosynthesis in Arabidopsis seed coat mucilage on The Plant Cell.
Here, we found that deletion mutations in the Trihelix family transcription factor DF1 lead to a significant reduction in pectic polysaccharide RG-I synthesis
The study also found that the expressions of DF1 and GL2 are both directly regulated by TTG2.
This study systematically analyzed the fine regulation mechanism of pectin polysaccharide RG-I synthesis, and thus constructed a transcriptional regulatory network of RG-I synthesis, which provided theoretical support for the directional regulation of plant pectin polysaccharide
The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Innovation Fund of Shandong Energy Research Institute, and the Shandong Provincial Talent Project
