This supervision and spot check is based on GB 24408-2009 "Limit of Hazardous Substances in Exterior Wall Coatings for Building", GB/T 9755-2014 "Synthetic Resin Emulsion Exterior Wall Coatings", JG/T 172-2014 "Elastic Architectural Coatings", JG/ T 24-2000 "Synthetic Resin Emulsion Sand Wall-like Architectural Coatings" and other national standards and related standards require inspections of the following items of the product: volatile organic compound (VOC) content, free formaldehyde content, glycol ether and ether ester Total content, heavy metal content (lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, mercury), contrast ratio, water resistance, alkali resistance, scrub resistance, stain resistance.
The spot check found that a batch of external wall paint (25kg 20180423/1804042) produced by Shanghai Pingan Paint Co.

(nominal) was unqualified for free formaldehyde content.
Formaldehyde can cross-link and coagulate protein molecules, which is a toxic substance for cells.
Excessive formaldehyde can cause strong irritation to the eyes and respiratory mucosa; it can cause persistent hyperplasia, squamous epithelium, inflammation and ulcers in the respiratory tract epithelium; it can affect the human immune system and induce asthma; it can also interfere with the replication process of human DNA.
As a result, important genes such as tumor suppressor genes are lost, which in turn leads to tumors and blood diseases.
