Cognitive decline is one of the most common non-motor symptoms of PD

Traditionally , Parkinson's disease (PD) was considered a movement disorder, but with the advancement of technology , it is now clinically recognized that some non-motor symptoms are also part of PD

Longitudinal studies have shown that posterior cortex involvement increases the risk of PDD, because PD patients with decreased semantic fluency and visual spatial function, decreased metabolism in the posterior cortex, and hippocampus and posterior cortex atrophy are more likely to develop PDD

Recently, a study published in the Journal of Radiology developed a prediction model based on machine learning, using only the cortical thickness of MRI , combined with clinical information, to assess the risk of PD and MCI patients’ conversion to dementia at an individual level , for PD patients Early diagnosis and disease monitoring provided strong support

This retrospective study included PD and MCI patients who underwent MRI examinations between September 2008 and November 2016

42 patients progressed to PDD (converters) (mean age, 71 years ± 6 [standard deviation]; 22 women), 75 patients did not progress to PDD (non-converters) (mean age, 68 years ± 6; 40 Women)

Although only should PDD predicting cortical thickness measured by MRI transformation still limitations, but the cortical thickness and clinical variables combined clinical PDD forecast PD and MCI patients at the individual level of significance
