On July 26, 2021, at the 2021 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC-2021), Cognito Therapeutics, a company co-founded by Professor Lihui Cai from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), demonstrated its treatment of Alzheimer’s disease ( AD) innovative sound and light therapy, positive results in a prospective phase 2 clinical trial for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate AD

It is worth mentioning that in January of this year, the product obtained the Breakthrough Device Designation (Breakthrough Device Designation) granted by the US FDA

This prospective randomized controlled clinical trial called OVERTURE was carried out in patients with mild to moderate AD.

The results of the test showed that compared with the control group (n=20), the treatment group (n=33) reduced the rate of decline of the daily living ability score by 84%, and the memory and cognitive decline rate was reduced by 83%

Accelerated brain atrophy is associated with cognitive decline and loss of function in AD patients, and is a driving factor for mortality and morbidity in disease progression

In addition, sleep disorders are also closely related to the occurrence and development of AD, so improving sleep is an important entry point for developing AD treatment strategies
