Recently, "Ecological Indicators" published online research by Xiong Qinli, Associate Professor Xiao Yang of Jishou University , and Liang Pinghan , Professor of Sun Yat-sen University, from the Earth Surface Process and Ecosystem Management Project Group of the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences .

The grassland ecosystem of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is an important guarantee for curbing land desertification and soil erosion, water conservation, carbon sequestration, and climate regulation.

It is an important ecological barrier for the plateau and surrounding areas and is extremely important for maintaining China's ecological security

At present, research on the driving forces of human disturbance and climate change on the ecosystem changes of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the large-scale environment has become a hot spot
    .

However, the question of whether climate change or man-made disturbances dominate the substantive changes in the grasslands of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has not been accurately answered

In summary, the current grassland research on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has the following three issues that plague scholars and decision makers: (1) On a long-term scale, what is the spatial distribution and temporal change of net primary productivity (NPP) of grassland on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau? (2) What are the main driving forces (climate change, protection policies or development activities) of NPP change trends in different time and space? (3) What are the indicators of grassland change in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau?

In order to solve the above problems, the research team took the grassland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau as the research object, systematically revealed the spatial distribution and time series of the grassland net primary productivity (NPP) of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from 1980 to 2015, and used trend analysis and redundancy analysis to determine driving indicators ( Climate change and human disturbance) contribution to NPP changes
    .

In the past 35 years, grassland productivity on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has shown a significant improvement trend

This research is a continuation of the research on the driving forces of vegetation change in the source of the Three Rivers and its adjacent areas, and provides a reference map for the survey of vegetation biomass in the context of global change for the second scientific expedition to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
    .

Studies have proved that the main controlling factors of grassland change in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau are changing, from climate change to human disturbance, especially large-scale ecological management and ecological restoration projects
