The preparation and characterization of functional films is an important part of photoelectrochemistry and devices Through self-assembly, covalent bonding, electrochemical polymerization and other methods, the photoelectric functional molecules are deposited on the electrode surface interface The obtained films have important applications in photoelectric exchange, information storage, electrochromic, biological and ion detection In recent years, with the support of the leading project of Chinese Academy of Sciences and NSFC, Zhong Yuwu research group of Institute of chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences has designed and synthesized a series of organometallic ruthenium, iridium and platinum complexes, and has carried out systematic research on their basic electron, energy transfer process and photoelectric properties The functional complex films were further prepared by self adsorption or electrochemical polymerization In ancient times, the tripod was used as the carrier of cooking containers, court sacrificial offerings and historical records Among them, the Empress Wu quadruped tripod made in the Shang Dynasty is the representative of Chinese bronze culture Recently, Zhong Yuwu group has prepared a kind of small organic molecule tapyr with a similar quadruped tripod structure Pyrene, a functional organic molecule, is used as the parent nucleus of the compound Four pyridine substituted diphenylamine groups are linked at 1,3,6,8 The results show that tapyr can form a stable monolayer on the surface of the electrode through the action of multiple sites The group further prepared ferrocene and ruthenium monolayer and multilayer films by step coordination assembly The preparation method is simple, rapid, accurate and controllable The functionalized films prepared by this method have good electrochemical stability and surface electron transport properties The mononuclear ruthenium and Binuclear Ruthenium films have electrochromic function at the molecular level This work has not only synthesized a new type of tripod like molecules for electrode interface modification, but also provided an important idea for the preparation of functional molecular films This work was recently published in J am Chem SOC (J am Chem SOC 2018, 140, 12337).
