    Biofilms can be harmful or beneficial to humans: they can cover the surfaces of materials and objects, including medical equipment, and cause infections, and they are resistant to many drugs and disinfectants


    In the latest study published in the journal ACS Synthetic Biology, Meyer and her colleagues showed that engineered biofilms can work like natural biofilms


    Meyer said: "This paper shows that our engineered biofilms can behave like natural biofilms in many ways-including showing resistance-which makes them a good model system for the development of anti-biofilm drugs


    This work is the latest result of a series of research work led by Meyer Laboratory, which aims to develop synthetic materials that mimic nature
