    Researchers identify key complex for ribosome production

    Using a gene-editing tool called CRISPR, the researchers inactivated individual genes to identify those that may play a key role in ribosome biogenesis


    The function of SPATA5 in cells was not previously known; however, mutations in the gene have been linked to neurodevelopmental disorders, including microcephaly, hearing loss, epilepsy and intellectual disability
