    Objective: To determine an ultrasound (US) scanning protocol for the diagnosis of gout and pyrophosphate arthropathy (CPPD) in patients with acute mono/oligoarthritis of unknown etiology to improve diagnostic accuracy


    METHODS: Acute mono/oligoarthritis patients were consecutively enrolled and required joint aspiration in the most clinically involved joint (target joint)


    RESULTS: A total of 161 subjects (32 patients with gout, 30 patients with CPPD, and 99 disease controls) were included in the study
