Reuters reported that Royal Dutch Shell has officially handed over its operating
rights to the Iraqi onshore oil field Majnoon.

Officials from Shell and Basra NOC met this week to complete Shell's withdrawal from oil fields
    in southern Iraq.
Shell previously said it would give up its 45% stake in the sector and leave
    by the end of June.

A source said: "The handover process went smoothly without any problems
    .

Iraqi officials also revealed that "Shell's withdrawal has no impact on production operations, and we can increase production
    without any obstacles.
    " ”

The giant Majnoon field produces about 235,000 barrels
    per day.
Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar Al-Luaibi said in April that the Iraqi government aims to boost production to 450,000 barrels
    within three years.

Since then, Basra Oil has signed two field development contracts
with China's Andong Oilfield Services and Britain's Petefa.
