Rubber plantation soil quality is very different |
Land degradation caused by improper agricultural practices is a global problem.
In fact, rubber forests have the potential for sustainable land management, but the ecological environmental effects of different rubber forest management models are not the same.
The Soil Quality Index (SQI) can reflect the overall status of the soil quality of rubber forests, and is an effective tool for evaluating the quality of various types of rubber forests.
Therefore, in order to quantitatively evaluate the soil quality and environmental conditions of rubber forests, Dr.
The results showed that after the tropical rain forest was transformed into a pure rubber forest, the soil quality was seriously degraded, such as porosity, water holding capacity, nutrient content, nutrient circulation and utilization rate were significantly reduced, and the bulk density and nutrient loss increased.
In addition, the researchers also found that soil chemical properties have a higher contribution rate to the soil quality index than soil physical properties, indicating that forestland nutrient management plays an important role in the process of soil restoration.
This study shows that in tropical areas of China, compound forest land should be preferred instead of single plantation of rubber forest, which can better achieve sustainable land management.
