According to an administrative order passed by the Russian government at the end of April, Russia began to ban the export of buckwheat from June 5th .
The administrative order is valid until August 31 this year.
The temporary ban on the export of buckwheat does not involve the need for humanitarian assistance, transit transportation, and protection of military bases stationed abroad and Russian agencies in Baikonur Cosmodrome and Svalbard.
The Russian Federation of Grain Exporters announced at the end of April that the main importers of Russian buckwheat were China, Latvia and Ukraine, citing data from the Russian Federal Customs Service.
The Russian Food Exporters Union pointed out that from July 2020 to April 2021, exports of buckwheat to China reached 26,228 tons, to Latvia 14,339 tons, and to Ukraine 13,189 tons.
In addition, Lithuania imported 9,812 tons of buckwheat from Russia and 8,536 tons from Japan.
In 2020, Russia's buckwheat production reached 892,000 tons, an increase of 13.
