Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom, said Russia would phase out Soviet nuclear power units built in the last century and add 15 new ones by 2035
.
"Our task is to build nuclear power units on existing sites and expand existing plants
with new installations.
All new nuclear units will be of the 3rd generation and above, with a capacity of 1,200 MW," a TASS report quoted Likhachev as saying

This task is currently under discussion
at the government level.
Likhachev leads the Russian delegation to the 65th IAEA General Conference
in Vienna, Austria.
