    Russia will provide advanced and safe fuel for nuclear power plants

    The new, more advanced and safer fuel will reportedly be reloaded into the two operational reactors of the Kudankuram nuclear power project and loaded into a follow-on unit built in Tamil Nadu with technical assistance from Rosatom, Rosatom

    In an interview with IANS, the vice president of TVEL, Rosatom's fuel division, said the company hopes to reach an agreement
    with KNPP manufacturer, India's state-run nuclear power company, to eventually supply the new fuel.

    Rosatom is also an equipment supplier to KNPP, whose first two units are already in service

    Ugryumov said that at the time of negotiating Modules 1 and 2, the company had only obtained an international licence
    to load UTVS fuel into the VVER-1000 reactor.
    "UTVS fuel has been used in all international projects in Rosatom, including Units 1 and 2 of China's Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and Unit 1 of
    Iran's Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant," he said.

    He added, "Now we have a license to sell TVS-2M, a reference solution
    for all power units of the VVER-1000 reactor that Rosatom built abroad.

    It is understood that the new solutions for nuclear power plants are also more efficient
    in terms of economy.
