Ilya Shestakov, head of the Russian Federation’s Fisheries Agency (Rosrybolovstvo), said: “We have been negotiating with our Chinese colleagues to fix fishery trade issues, but the progress of the negotiations is very difficult.

"Currently, the bulk transportation of seafood can only be achieved by container ships, not bulk transportation.
This is a very difficult problem for Russian fishermen.
We are looking for other options to bypass Chinese ports and ship to South Korea and Japan.
    " Shestakov said.

Shestakov said that during the Russian-Chinese Fisheries Federation, the Russian authorities will continue to negotiate with China to lift trade restrictions at an early date.
"We will refuse to hold the meeting until the Chinese side agrees to discuss this issue during the meeting.
    "

Last year, after the Dalian and Qingdao epidemics, China's control measures for imported frozen seafood (especially Russian products) have been continuously upgraded.
Shandong took the lead in implementing the "distribution to regrouping" policy, followed by Liaoning, which continues to this day.

According to statistics from the Fisheries Agency of the Russian Federation, about 70% of the Russian Far East pollock catches are shipped to China for processing.
Affected by Chinese policies, export companies have to find new markets and bear additional costs.
As of April 11, the cumulative production of pollock in Russia reached 863,300 tons, down 15% from the same period last year.
