Sanofi, the French pharmaceutical giant, recently announced a partnership with Alphabet's Google Life Sciences unit to improve clinical care and prognostics for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The partnership will combine Sanofi's leadership in diabetes drugs and devices with Google's expertise in data analytics, minielectronics and low-power chips to develop new tools and new care interventions that integrate many of the previously isolated modules in diabetes management to explore ways to improve diabetes management. These isolated modules include health indicators such as blood sugar and glycation hemoglobin levels, information reported by patients, medication options, sensor devices, and more.
Sanofi and Google Life Sciences will combine their expertise in science and technology to better collect, analyze and interpret multi-source information affecting diabetes care, with the ultimate goal of making it easier for diabetics to successfully manage their condition, reduce the risk of complications, improve prognosis and reduce treatment costs.
, as a global leader in diabetes care, we have an obligation and a mission to provide integrated solutions for people with diabetes. This partnership, which combines Sanofi's knowledge and expertise in diabetes with Google's leadership in technology and analytics, will create a pioneering initiative that promises to revolutionis diabetes care.
Andy Conrad, chief executive of Google's life sciences team, said the emerging new technologies will provide a continuous, real-time monitoring of patients' health care, and we believe that working with Sanofi will make diabetes management easier and more convenient and help patients improve their quality of life.
