Oslo-based clean energy company Scatec Solar has signed an agreement to build two solar projects
with a capacity of 33 MW and 50 MW in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine.
The €85 million (US$100 million) project will be realized under the country's feed-in tariff (FiT) scheme, and the two plants are expected to generate about 106,000 MWh of electricity
per year.
The financing process for the project began with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development leading
the way.
The financial closure and commencement of construction is expected to take place later in 2018 and begin commercial operations
in 2019.
The CEO of Scec Solar said, "We see this as the first step
in developing a larger portfolio of solar power plants in Ukraine.
Ukraine is actively working to change their energy mix and increase the share
of renewable energy supplies.
