    On December 8, 2021, Chen Xiaoya's research group from the Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences published a research paper entitled "A unique flavoenzyme operates in ubiquinone biosynthesis in photosynthesis-related eukaryotes" on Science Advances


    Coenzyme Q (coenzyme Q, CoQ), also known as ubiquinone (ubiquinone), is a kind of terpene quinone compound that exists in all eukaryotes and some bacteria.

    Big data analysis shows that Coq7 is widely distributed in fungi and animals, and also in other eukaryotic groups, indicating that Coq7 may come from the common ancestor of eukaryotes, while CoqF is mainly distributed in plants, green algae and some other algae.


    Researcher Chen Xiaoya from the Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden, is the corresponding author.
