The microtubule network (green) reorganizes at the muscle lesion and attracts the nucleus

As we all know, muscle regeneration is a complex process involving several steps and relies on stem cells

Skeletal muscle tissue is the organ responsible for movement.

Although in-depth research on muscle regeneration has been conducted in the past few decades, most research has focused on mechanisms involving other cells, including muscle stem cells, which are required for extensive muscle damage

"In this study, we discovered another mechanism for the autonomous regeneration of muscle cells," said Pura Muñoz-Cánoves, group leader and research leader at UPF

The researchers used different in vitro injury models and exercise models from mice and humans to observe that after injury, cell nuclei are attracted to the injury site, accelerating the repair of contractile cells

In addition to the significance of muscle research, this research also introduces more general concepts of cell biology, such as nuclear movement at the injury site
