Obesity is a global epidemic that kills millions of people every year.
can also cause other chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease, stroke, cancer and depression.
commonly used weight loss methods such as diet and exercise, which few people can stick to, resulting in poor weight loss.
weight loss pills may help some people lose some weight, but there are side effects that cannot be used for long periods of time.
recently, a team at Columbia University Medical Center in the United States discovered anorexia hormone called Lipocalin-2, which inhibits food intake and increases satiety.
the study was published in the journal eLife, entitled Lipocalin-2 is an anorexigenic signal inprimates.
researchers found in mice that the Lipocalin-2 hormone (LCN2) from osteoblasts inhibited food intake and acted as a signal of satiety.
further studies of primates such as macaques and macaques have found that LCN2 passes through the blood-brain barrier and reaches the lower desalination of primates.
In addition, the researchers injected LN2 hormone into macaques daily before eating them, and after 1 week compared to pre-treatment, macaques treated with LN2 were found to consume about 21 percent less food without significant side effects.
these studies demonstrate that LN2 has biological properties that regulate satiety and anorexia, and that LCN2 may be a new target for future obesity treatments.
