    Scientists have discovered two new species of deep-sea moval animal horseshoes

    Recently, the Marine Shellfish Classification and System Evolution Research Group of the Institute of Oceanographic Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Ocean Institute) discovered two new species of horseshoe screws of deep-sea moval animals using integrated taxonomic methods, and established a new genus, a new sub-section for this purpose. The findings were published online in Deep Sea Research.
    the team collated and classified abdominal foot specimens collected during previous ocean voyages and found two unique horse-shoe snails with unique morphological features, taken from the Mariana Seismological Mountains (865m water depth) and the Caroline Semen (1332m deep). The study found that there were significant differences between the two species of horseshoe snails in terms of shell morphology, tongue characteristics and anatomical features of soft parts. To further confirm its classification status, the researchers systematically analyzed the horseshoe snails using a multi-gene approach. The results showed that they did not get together with any known yako in the horseshoe, but together individually.based on the above-mentioned research, the two horseshoes were named Marilyn horseshoe screw and Weiss rib horseshoe screw, respectively, and for this purpose, a new Yakole horseshoe screw Yako and a new genus rib horseshoe screw were established. Among them, the Marilyn horseshoe snails live on bamboo corals and feed on theattached to them. It is speculated from fossil age calibration and molecular clock analysis that this group may have spread from the shallow sea to the deep sea during the late Cretaceous period (about 80 million years ago). It is speculated that the evolutionary diffusion path of this group may be closely related to the diffusion of some larvae driven by the underlying ocean currents. In addition, based on molecular data analysis, there are currently two other unseated new species in the southwestern Pacific.horseshoe screw section belongs to the original abdominal foot, horseshoe screw general section, is the most variety of the general section, including 10 sub-sections, nearly 100 genus, has been reported more than 1000 species. Most of the species in the section live in inter-tidal zones or shallow seas and show greater diversity in the tropical western Pacific Ocean, but there is a relative lack of research on deep-sea species. The discovery of rib-horseshoe snails and these new species not only enriches the research content of deep-sea horseshoe species diversity, but also provides new ideas and references for the study of the origin, diffusion and evolution of deep-sea movable animals.
