Seed germination mechanism research progresses |
On February 22, Li Lei's research group from the School of Life Sciences, Peking University published a research paper online in Plant Cell.
Seeds release dormancy and germinate when exposed to light, which is an important physiological and morphogenesis process in many seed plants.
In this study, by comparing the transcriptome changes in the process of seed formation and germination, plantacyanin was identified as a key factor in the process of seed germination regulated by far-red light.
Based on this research and previous results, the research team proposed a molecular mechanism of PIF1-miR40-Plantacyanin inhibiting cascade regulation of seed germination under far-red light.
This research is of great significance for in-depth understanding of seed dormancy and germination mechanisms, and at the same time provides new ideas for the research of seed source technology.
