South Africa's national power company Eskom said on Sunday it would implement a nationwide blackout plan
from 1700 local time (1500 GMT) to Tuesday due to seven power plant failures in the past 24 hours.

Eskom said in a statement that the failure of the seven plants resulted in "a total loss of 6,044 megawatts (megawatts), bringing the total unplanned loss of power to 16,118 megawatts.
