SINGAPORE, April 2 (UPI) -- Shell said on Thursday it had increased production capacity at a major petrochemical plant in Singapore.
Shell has upgraded its ethylene cracking plant on Singapore's Bukon Island and expanded production capacity by more than 20 per cent, which will significantly increase the production of chemicals used to make plastics.
project is part of shell's Oriental Petrochemical Complex project and is Shell Chemical's largest investment to date.
singapore is Shell's petrochemical production center in the Asia Pacific region. Weakness in refining profits in 2014 has forced Shell to take a $2.8bn impairment loss on its downstream operations, including its Bukon refinery in Singapore.
