air quality has continued to improve since Shenzhen implemented the "40" improvement plan for atmospheric environmental quality. On the morning of August 25, Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin presided over the executive meeting of the municipal government heard the Shenzhen Municipal Habitat Environment Commission report on the state of the city's environmental air quality, reporters were informed that in January-July this year, Shenzhen air quality excellent days for 198 days, accounting for 97.5% of the total effective days (203). Monitoring data from the environmental protection department also show that from January to July this year, the average concentration of PM2.5 in Shenzhen was 28.9 micrograms per cubic meter, down 2.7 micrograms per cubic meter from the same period last year, ranking fourth among the air quality in 74 key cities in the country, after Haikou, Lhasa and Huizhou, and ranking first among cities above the sub-provincial level. The concentration of nitrogen oxides, inhalable particulate matter, ozone and other pollution decreased by different magnitudes. The total number of days of haze was 27 days, down 1 day year-on-year. Of particular concern is the fact that the city's average concentration of PM2.5 in June was 11.5 micrograms per cubic metre, the lowest monthly average since monitoring records began in 2005. Among the districts in Shenzhen, Yantian has the lowest average concentration of PM2.5 so far this year, at 25 micrograms per cubic meter. Compared with the same period last year, the average concentration of PM2.5 decreased by different ranges in each district, with the largest decreases in Luohu District, Dapeng New Area and Guangming New Area, down 13.5%, 10.3% and 10% year-on-year, respectively. According to the Shenzhen Environmental Protection Department, as of the end of July, "Shenzhen Atmospheric Environmental Quality Improvement Plan" a total of 40 tasks, new project environmental management, port operation machinery pollution control, coal-fired generator sets deep desulfurization dust removal, automotive maintenance industry organic exhaust gas control and other more than 30 tasks are progressing smoothly. Among them, Mawan power plant pollutant emissions have been stable lower than the latest national emission standards, the city's building decoration industry has taken the lead in the country to ban the use of solvent-based

. According to the meteorological department forecast, in the second half of this year, Shenzhen meteorological conditions are not conducive to the spread of pollutants, while the transmission of foreign pollutants to our city's air quality impact intensified. It is reported that, in order to further improve the quality of the atmospheric environment, Shenzhen will increase the implementation of the "Shenzhen Air Environment Quality Improvement Plan" to promote the port ship pollution control, vigorously promote pollution boiler control, improve the level of dust pollution control. In order to cope with the possible adverse meteorological conditions, with reference to the "Shenzhen Air Pollution Emergency Plan", Shenzhen will timely start some mandatory temporary emission reduction measures.
