According to customs statistics, China's total imports of warm water shrimp products in 2020 will be about 544,000 tons, down 16% from the previous year, and imports will be about $3.1 billion, down 22%.
Especially in the second half of the year, the import market contracted particularly hard, with total imports of about 205,000 tons in the third and fourth quarters, down 48% from a year earlier and imports of about $1.12 billion, down 54% from a year earlier.
2019, China imported about 720,000 tons of shrimp products, more than the U.S. (700,000 tons) and less than the U.S. ($4.44 billion).
