Sichuan's three major UHV daily electricity transmission exceeds 500 million kilowatt hours, equivalent to twice the daily power generation of the Three Gorges Hydropower Station
.
This year, the growth rate of Sichuan's power grid installed capacity is significantly higher than the growth of electricity load, an increase of about 17% over the same period last year, resulting in a more serious
hydropower surplus in 2016 than the previous year.
In addition, due to the El Niño phenomenon, the flood season in Sichuan Province was advanced this year, and the water supply in the main river basins in Sichuan increased by 17% year-on-year, and hydropower continued to grow, further aggravating the pressure
on Sichuan's hydropower consumption.
In order to actively absorb Sichuan hydropower, on June 15, the State Grid Corporation of China gave full play to the advantages of long-distance and large-capacity transmission of UHV power grid, and arranged for the three UHVDC transmission lines of Fufeng, Jinsu and Binjin to operate
at full power from June to November.
This year is the fourth year of full-power operation of the three UHVDC projects, and the total transmission power of the three UHVDC lines reaches 21.
6 million kilowatts, accounting for 10%
of the largest load in East China.
The DC transmission power of Fufeng, Jinsu and Bingjin accounted for 25%, 10% and 15%
of the load of the receiving province respectively.
At present, Sichuan's three UHVDC transmission lines transmit 519 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per day, which is equivalent to reducing raw coal consumption by about 230,000 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by about 490,000 tons
per day because all of them are clean hydropower.
