Siemens Gamesa and Horizon Energy confirmed that the offshore wind industry has gained tremendous momentum in the United States and announced the signing of a subcontract to supply wind turbines
for Dominion Energy's Marina Virginia offshore wind project.
Walsch Energy and Dominio Energy formed a strategic partnership in 2017 to provide clean, renewable energy
to customers in Virginia.
It will be the first offshore wind project to be built in federal waters, marking a significant achievement for the U.
S.
offshore wind industry and will be the first U.
S.
project
for any company.
Walsch Energy will build the wind power project using two Siemens Gamesa 6 MW SWT-6.
0-154 wind turbines with a total capacity of 12 MW

Back in 2013, Walsch Energy developed the first pilot project
for Siemens Gamesa's 6-megawatt platform, Gunfleet Sands III, located on the UK coast.
Siemens Gamesa and Horizon Energy have been contracted worldwide to manufacture, install and commission a total of approximately 2,700 MW of offshore wind capacity
.
