The Key Laboratory of Marginal Seas and Ocean Geology ( OMG ) Marine Sedimentation and Paleoenvironmental Group,
The Indian Ocean summer monsoon is a very important part of the global monsoon circulation system.
Researchers used the Mg/Ca and oxygen isotopes of the planktonic foraminifer Globigerinoides ruber sensu stricto (ss) (white) in the sedimentary column ADM-C1 in the southern Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean to reconstruct the surface sea temperature and oxygen isotope changes in the area.
The study provides high-resolution monsoon rainfall records in low-latitude tropical seas, and provides direct evidence for the temporal and spatial changes of the summer maximum rainfall zone in the Early Mid Holocene
The research was awarded the Strategic Leading Science and Technology Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences ( No.
