Chemists have studied the possibility of using a modified silicon dioxide coating of 3-amino triethyl silane as a stone protective material.
studied silicon dioxide coatings modified with 3-amino triethyl silane (ATS) to test their potential use as a stone protective material. Due to the lack of volatile organic ingredients, the synthetic route is simple and environmentally friendly
.
formulations can be applied directly to stone substrates
which are easily available by mixing primary tetraethyl silicate (TEOS), polymethylsilane (PDMS-OH) at the ATS and OH ends. ATS acts as a curing catalyst and coupled agent. The formula can be applied directly to stone substrates, especially the exterior stone of buildings.
therefore, the purpose of applying ATS modified silicon dioxide is to restore and protect the building substrate. In hybrid materials, the role of PDMS is to form a bridge connecting silicon dioxide particles. Finally, the effectiveness of these products as stone solidizers and coatings was evaluated by a variety of indicators, including mechanical resistance, stripping properties, capillary absorption and contact angles.
results can be found in Volume 17 (2020) of the Journal of Coating Technology and Research.
